Founder and CEO


James Battle Tested Clay is an honorably discharged United States Marine.  

James graduated from the Montgomery County Office of Reentry Career Alliance Academy in Dayton Ohio as class leader and Graduation speaker. 


James is the CEO and Founder of Battle Tested LLC. He is the co-founder of H.O.P.E Letters in 2018.  


He is the originator of Battle Tested Bags Project which is designed to provide the necessities for returning citizens.


He is a strong advocate for Restorative Justice in Montgomery County Ohio.

Don Wilson

President Of The Board Of Directors


Don Wilson is a native of Lake City, SC. He is the proud parent of an adult son. Don did his undergraduate school at the University of South Carolina and earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Francis Marion University in Florence, SC.


He received his Master of Divinity from the United Theological Seminary in Ohio. Don has worked full-time in the United Methodist Church for over three decades. He served as a Mission Intern in Zambia and Zimbabwe, on the continent of Africa; worked as a Church and Community Worker in the State of Arkansas; served as a local church pastor in Arkansas and Ohio.


Don is currently the Grace United Methodist Church pastor in Dayton, OH.

Gaye Lynn Evans

Secretary Of Battle Tested, LLC.


Born and raised in Urbana, Ohio, where her father and uncle served in law enforcement for over 30 years. Graduated from Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio with a Master’s in Management and a Bachelor’s in Human Development and Management. Also, earned a Graduate Certificate in Foundations of Business Administration. Works as a Professional Guardian at Alpert Jewish Family Services and tutors tribal members with the Seminole Tribe of Florida.


Previous employers include David L. Brown Youth Center (resident treatment center for teenage boys); Intervention Center at Montgomery County Juvenile Court; Permanent Family Solutions Network (PFSN) at the Buckeye Ranch. Over 20 years of experience in staff development, counseling, group facilitation, juvenile justice system .

Group singer of Minister Leroy Pirtle and DABand, and Big sister Minister Leroy Pirtle.

Doug Woodard

Doug Woodard has been a resident of West Carrollton since he was in the sixth grade. He graduated from West Carrollton High school and received his Associate's Degree from Sinclair Community College.


He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in the Administration of Criminal Justice, and earned his Master's Degree in Strategic Leadership, both from Mountain State University.

Doug has worked in law enforcement for over 38 years, the last 34 of those years with the West Carrollton Police Department where he currently serves as the Chief of Police.


Doug is married to his wife Lynn and they have two adult sons as well as two very lovable dogs.
